Governance
The SCI is governed by a strategic management board (SMB), and is managed day-to-day by Professor Alistair Ulph, Executive Director, working along with an Operations Board comprised of core academic and professional support staff. The total number of academic staff (including postdoctoral research associates) supported through the Institute is around 30, although the staffing level varies according to the SCI's research activities. We have 26 PhD students linked to SCI research themes.
The work of the Institute is supported by the Head of Institute Administration (Richard Seeley), SCI Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training (Professor Colin Hughes) and 5 professional support staff.
Our International Advisory Board (IAB) meets once a year to provide external advice on research strategy.
