Strategic Management Board
The Strategic Management Board (SMB) is comprised of Alistair Ulph, SCI Executive Director, and senior representatives from The University of Manchester (Professors Luke Georghiou, Keith Brown and Colin Bailey) and Tesco (Carolyn Bradley, Barney Burgess and David North) with provision for an independent member. It is chaired by Professor Rod Coombs, Deputy President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester.
The main roles of the SMB are to:
- Draw on guidance from the International Advisory Board and elsewhere to agree priority research and policy programmes, and refine key questions to be addressed by programme teams;
- Manage and allocate a rolling programme of project funding for agreed priority research and policy programmes, drawing on independent advice as appropriate;
- Set action plans and targets for each programme, and review progress against targets; and
- Review list of, and funding for, Global Partner Institutions.
