SCI to look at innovation and consumption with new funding from ESRC and Tesco
25 January 2012The Sustainable Consumption Institute was this month awarded a grant of £136,975 from the ESRC for a project on ‘Eco-Innovation and Consumer Behaviour’, with match funding from Tesco. Grant holders Professors Dale Southerton and Andrew McMeekin will be working with Co-Investigators Dr David Evans and Dr Chris Foster starting March 2012.
This 12 month project will analyse the relationship between innovation and consumption by focusing on a set of product categories, where eco-innovations have already been introduced or where there are plans to do so, and will explore the consumer uptake (or lack) of those products. The research will employ innovative data and interactive knowledge transfer activities in order to address an issue mutually identified (by policy, business and academic literature) as critical for fostering more sustainable ways of life.
