Peter McGoldrick - SCI Associated Professor

Peter McGoldrick is the first Tesco Professor of Retailing in Manchester Business School, having previously been the Professor of Retailing at UMIST. He is the co-project leader on the SCI project Motivating Sustainability in Consumption.

 

In 1992 Peter became the first joint professor between Manchester Business School and Manchester School of Management at UMIST, sponsored by the Littlewoods Organisation. He is Chair of the Consumer, Retail, Innovation & Service (CRIS) Research Centre at MBS and Director of the Retail Research Forum, an industry-university collaboration of twelve years standing.

 

His research has attracted extensive peer-reviewed and industrial funding, including several grants from the ESRC, EPSRC, DTI, OFT, EU and other funding organisations. He has published over 180 books and papers, mainly within the fields of retailing and consumer behaviour. His sole-authored textbook Retail Marketing (McGraw-Hill) is in second edition, also available in Chinese. He has recent papers published in Harvard Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Business Ethics and many other journals.

 

Peter serves on editorial review boards for the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Communications, and European Retail Research. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is involved in a wide range of projects within the spheres of retailing, shopper behaviour, sustainability and e-commerce.
