Pawan Kumar Srikanth joined AMBS and the SCI as a fully funded PhD student in January 2022. He holds an M.E. in Environmental Engineering and a B.E. in Civil Engineering.

Prior to his PhD Journey, he worked as a Research Associate in the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand (2020-2021) and as a Project Associate in Anna University, Chennai, India. His Research mentors were Prof. Kurian Joseph from Centre for Environmental Studies, Anna University, Chennai, India and Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. His research interests include Circular Economy for Waste Management Practices and Marine Plastics Abatement.

 

Research Title

Pathways to circulating critical metals

Research Project

The studentship is funded by the University of Manchester for a period of 3.5 years. His research will focus on assessing the possible pathways to a circular economy for critical metals in the U.K. by developing a comparative analysis of the conditions under which circulation can be achieved. With his past engineering research experience, he envisions that this work will have a solid social science basis and will utilise a mixed-methods research design under the themes of advanced NLP methods, social network analysis, and interpretive approaches.
