Research agenda
In 2024, the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) launched a new five-year research agenda, ‘Understanding Sustainability in a Turbulent World’, setting out the Institute’s research priorities for 2025–2029.
The new agenda responds to a world undergoing profound and rapid change. From shifting geopolitics and economic uncertainty to transformations in technology, society and everyday life, these disruptions are reshaping the challenges and opportunities for sustainability.
‘Understanding Sustainability in a Turbulent World’ provides a framework for SCI’s research over the next five years, exploring how sustainability can be understood and advanced in the context of these complex and interconnected changes.
The agenda builds on SCI’s previous five year agenda and marks the next phase of the Institute’s work.
